Old school! A fun pattern of audio cassettes. Ahh the days spent recording directly from the radio and manually winding the ribbon with a pencil when it snagged and tangled. At the time, these were the only ways to make a mix tape of your favorite songs. What would your mix tape to your pup be? ;)
This ribbon has been lovingly sewn onto heavy weight black nylon. I've included standard black hardware.
***How to measure for your new collar***
Side Release Buckle Collars:
Using a soft measuring tape, or piece of string, measure around your dog's neck where the collar would sit. Make sure you can comfortably fit two fingers between the measuring tape and your dog's neck. This will ensure the collar is a perfect fit!
These collars are designed for dogs with heads that are more narrow than their necks. When you pull on the leash your dog's martingale will slightly tighten to circumference of their neck, applying even pressure so they are not able to slip out of it.
You will need two measurements:
1) the circumference of your dog's neck (as you would for any normal side release buckle collar)
2) the circumference of your dog's head. Measure right behind the ears and under the head. (see photo)
All of my martingale collars are made with approximately an extra 5" of slack. This slack is always made with the same nylon webbing as the collar. The 5" is NOT included in the sizing. The sizes are based off of the neck measurement. The extra 5" allows the collar to sit loosely around your dog's neck and then cinch together if the dog pulls. My martingale collars are also made with a quick release buckle so you do not have to readjust it every time by slipping it over your dog's head. Just fit the collar once and use the buckle for easy on and off!
**Note: Never leave a dog wearing a martingale collar unattended.
